You’re ready to draw fashion

People often say things like “I wish I could draw.” And I always think: You can. The hardest part is knowing where to begin.

We all draw as children. And, like all things, we develop and get better.

I began drawing people in my teens, sketching my favourite pop stars from Smash Hits magazine.

After a 10-year career in fashion PR, I thought about becoming an art teacher, so I took a teaching course. For my final exam, I taught the rest of the class how to draw fashion—one of my fellow students was an art teacher, so the pressure was on!

Almost everyone in my lesson had serious reservations about drawing, saying things like “I can’t draw; I only draw stick men.” Yet, within thirty minutes, everyone had a fashion illustration they were surprisingly proud of.

Even the art teacher said he’d learnt something new that day. And so did I; I realised that I could teach fashion illustration to creatives and non-creatives alike, and that, one day, I definitely would.

If you’re interested in drawing fashion, here are two ways I can help you simplify your fashion drawing.
